The 1986 Buick Regal Grand National (WE2) Marked a new era in Modern muscle car performance. Buick made some significant changes to the 1986 Grand National's powertrain that would make it one of the most powerful V-6 produced in the 1980's.
With the addition of an "Air-to-Air Intercooler" (which cooled the charged intake air, which everyone knows a cold turbo is a happy turbo), slight turbo changes, as well as modified upper and lower intake manifolds, and a redesigned exhaust system, made this car far more efficient than its earlier sibling. Horsepower was now upped to a respectable 235 at 4,000 r.p.m., and a Rubber melting 330 ft. lbs. torque at 2,400 r.p.m.. Other notable changes included a revised front air dam (with opening in the center to allow cool air to reach the Intercooler duct).
