| Aluminum/Tin: |
- Pop Cans

- Please, EMPTY pop cans before placing them in bins. Sticky soda causes difficulty with our equipment, attracts bees in summer and is hazardous to the collection team.
- Rinse food cans, pans and trays thoroughly.
- Remove paper labels from cans.

| Household Appliances: |
- Refrigerators, air conditioners, stoves, microwave ovens, washers, dryers and water heaters are accepted at the District. (i.e. appliances with steel bodies-NO fiberglass.)
- *Household Electronics - TV's, computers, etc., can be accepted only at the time of special collection events. Please call the office to get the next scheduled dates.
- Please NO furniture, carpet, wood products, doors & windows, sinks & toilets.
- Please NO garbage

- Remove all food from refrigerators and freezers.
- Appliances can only be accepted at the District office in Williamsport.

| Batteries: |
- Household Batteries
- Car Batteries
- Truck Batteries
- Lawnmower Batteries
|
- Household batteries (D, C, A, AA, AAA, 9 volt, Lithium, Mercury, Silver Oxide, and Nickel Cadmium) can be placed in the red toolbox mounted on the mobile bins or brought directly to the Recycling Center in Williamsport.
- Car, truck and lawnmower batteries will be accepted only at the Recycling Center in Williamsport.
- Authorized battery dealers can also accept your car batteries. Check with your local dealer for details.

| Leaves |
- Leaves for gardens are available at no charge. Call the office if you can use some.
|
|
 |
| Glass: |
- Pop Bottles
- Beer Bottles
- Juice Containers
- Ketchup Bottles
- Wine/Liquor Bottles
- Any Glass Beverage/Food Bottles or Jars
|
- Rinse glass thoroughly before placing in bins. This will help deter insects and rodents.
- A baby bottle brush is a good utensil for cleaning cans and bottles.
- Food glass can be rinsed in the dishwasher.
- Labels do not need to be removed.
- Lids should be removed. Metal lids can be recycled with tin.
- Separate glass by color before placing in bins.
- DO NOT put window glass, light bulbs or dishes/glasses and other non-recyclable glass items in the bins with the food bottles or jars. These types of glass are usually chemically treated, and they will contaminate the glass. Contaminated glass will not be accepted at the recycler and will have to be landfilled.

| Household Hazardous Waste: |
- *HHW will be accepted at a yearly special collection only. DO NOT drop it off at the Recycling Center.
- Aerosols
- Automotive supplies
- Corrosives
- Oil-base paint and related products
- Pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and other poisons
- Waste fuels
- Household cleaners containing toxic chemicals

- Reduce your reliance on toxic household chemicals.
- Call 762-1433 for date of next scheduled collection - Usually in the Fall.

| Mercury: |
- Silver bulb thermometers
- Nonelectronic thermostats
- Fluorescent and mercury vapor lighting
- Gauges such as barometers and manometers with silver-colored liquid
- Clothes irons with automatic /tilt shut-off
- Elemental mercury
- Vintage toys such as drawing screens
- LA Gear shoes made before 1997 with lights in soles
- Batteries
- Latex paint manufactured before 1990-check label for content
- Antibacterial products containing thimerosal or merbromin

- Accepted only at the Williamsport Recycling Center office.
- PLEASE do not drop off at one of our outside recycling centers.
- Call 762-1433 ahead of time to let us know you're bringing something in.
- Place item in a sealed plastic bag to protect yourself and your car.

- Papers can be put in paper sacks or left loose.
- Cardboard should be broken down.
- Please, no paraffin coated papers or cardboard.
(i.e. milk cartons, frozen food boxes)

| Plastics: |
- Milk Jugs
- 2 Liter Bottles
- Detergent Bottles
- Bleach Bottles
- Softener Bottles
- Any Type #1 or #2 plastic container.
- PLEASE, NO plastic bags and NO oil containers (motor oil, household oil, butter or margarine)

- Look for the symbol on the bottom of a plastic container. If there is a triangle with a number 1 or 2, the district will accept it.
- Remove lids from plastic bottles. Lids are not recyclable, put them in the trash.
- Rinse plastic bottles, thoroughly. This will prevent contamination.
- Sort by color...
Cloudy - milk jugs, vinegar bottles, any #2 plastic with a cloudy finish;
Clear - 2 liter bottles, medicine bottles, any color #1 plastic with a clear finish;
Colored - detergent, bleach, softener bottles, any color #2 plastic with a solid finish.

| Scrap Metal: |
- Some types of scrap metal can be processed.
- Call us at 765-762-1433, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, for details
- PLEASE don't bring scrap without calling first!

- Accepted by appointment at the Williamsport Recycling Center.

| Tires: |
- Auto Tires.
- Light Truck Tires.
- Semi-Truck Tires.
- Farm Equipment Tires.
|
- DO NOT leave tires at the Recycling Center. Call for next one-day special collection date. Usually 1st Saturday after Labor Day.
- Call to check if Wheels and Rims should be removed.
- It is preferable to leave tires with dealers at time of replacement.
- The District charges a fee depending on number of tires recycled.

| Used Oil: |
|
- Needs to be in an easy to carry container. (plastic milk jugs are preferred)
- *Call for details on a Farm Oil program.
- Oil should be free of contaminants such as anti-freeze, solvents, gasoline, water, etc.
- Oil is accepted only at the Recycling Center in Williamsport.
- For large quantities of oil, call the district office so that arrangements can be made.
